Mattel Issues Apology for Link to Pornographic Website
The toy manufacturer Mattel has issued an apology for a misprint on the packaging of some of its new dolls, which inadvertently led consumers to a pornographic website.

Instead of providing a link to the official site for the movie adaptation of “Wicked,” featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, the packaging mistakenly included a web address for an adult film site called Wicked Pictures, as reported by social media users.

“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the company stated on Sunday.

“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children,” it added.

Images of the toy boxes were shared on social media by customers who observed the mistake. In response, Mattel recommended that those who have already purchased the product either discard the packaging or “obscure the link.”

Although Mattel did not clarify whether it had removed the unsold products with the incorrect URL from store shelves, reports from the AP indicated that some of the “Wicked” dolls were no longer available on platforms like Amazon, Target, and Mattel’s own website as of Monday.

Moreover, various media outlets noted that this mishap has led to increased traffic for Wicked Pictures, the adult entertainment company associated with the erroneously printed web address.

Wicked Pictures “was formed with a firm commitment to producing quality parody porn movies,” which includes parodies of popular films such as Marvel’s “Black Widow” and “Captain Marvel,” as mentioned on its website. The company claims it “showcases some of the top-rated female porn stars” including Stormy Daniels, who gained notoriety due to her legal issues involving US President-elect Donald Trump.
