Dembele Secures Victory for PSG Over Arsenal in Champions League Semifinal
Paris Saint-Germain took the lead in their UEFA Champions League semifinal against Arsenal, securing a 1-0 victory in the first leg on Tuesday thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s goal.

Dembele found the net early at the Emirates Stadium, and the Parisians maintained their advantage with a disciplined performance that kept the Gunners at bay.

As they prepare for the second leg at the Parc des Princes on May 7, PSG are favored to advance to the final against either Barcelona or Inter Milan, aiming to capture the tournament trophy for the first time.

However, the French Ligue 1 champions remain wary given their history of significant European setbacks.

"We showed the kind of team we are. We tried to play our way and scored the goal early playing that way," PSG coach Luis Enrique stated. "We suffered sometimes, but could have scored the second goal. The second match is going to be very tough. The result means a little advantage for us. We can go to the final, but there is still one match."

Mikel Arteta had described Arsenal's journey to the semifinals as a "beautiful story," though the final chapter may be disappointing. Nonetheless, the Gunners' coach assures that his team is not out of the fight.

"We put so much into the game. It's halftime and we have a big chance to be in the final," Arteta commented. "We struggled in the first 15 minutes to get momentum and dominance, but in the end, I was disappointed not to get a draw at least. That's the margins. That's the level."

Arsenal had progressed to the semifinals by defeating titleholders Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate, marking their first appearance in this stage since 2009. However, they were unable to replicate the confident form that overwhelmed the Spanish giants in the previous round, despite the electrifying atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium just before kickoff.

Before the match, Declan Rice rallied his teammates during a pre-match huddle in the tunnel, urging them to give their all with the declaration: "If we don't have the ball, we die."

PSG, on the other hand, had already overcome Premier League champions Liverpool in the last 16 and Aston Villa in the quarterfinals, showcasing their resilience after coming back from two goals down to defeat Manchester City during the league phase. Interestingly, Arsenal were the only English team that PSG had not managed to defeat this season, with the Parisians suffering a 2-0 defeat in London last October.
