Si narrowly defeats Woollaston to advance to the World Snooker Championship quarterfinals
China's Si Jiahui secured his place in the quarterfinals of the World Snooker Championship for the second time in three years after a 13-10 victory over Ben Woollaston in Sheffield, England, on Monday. As the 13th seed, Si held a 9-7 lead going...

As the 13th seed, Si held a 9-7 lead going into the third session, but Woollaston managed to win the 18th frame with a century break of 110, leveling the match at 9-9.
Both players then exchanged leads. Si, a semi-finalist in 2023, took the 19th frame with a break of 51, but Woollaston responded with a 90-7 win, tying the score again at 10-10.
However, 23-year-old Si regained control from that point. He opened the 21st frame with a run of 63 to go up 11-10. His confidence was palpable in the 22nd frame, where he achieved a century break of 126, featuring some remarkable shots, putting him ahead 12-10 and just one frame away from victory.
Si ultimately closed out the match 13-10, joining compatriot Zhao Xintong in the last eight, where he will face seven-time champion Ronnie O'Sullivan. Following the match, he admitted that nerves almost overwhelmed him.
"We had a break when the match was tied up at 10-all, and I went to the practice table to keep my hands warm. I took a couple of shots there to ease myself a bit as I was a bit nervous. This helped me to play better in the last three frames, and I eventually won the match in the end," said Si.
In other matches, Chinese star Ding Junhui was eliminated by Luca Brecel. Ding trailed 12-4 before the final session and struggled to mount a significant comeback. Brecel, Belgium's 2023 world champion, claimed the victory 13-4 with a break of 71.
Meanwhile, O'Sullivan produced a dominating performance against China's Pang Junxu, winning 13-4 with two century breaks and ten half-centuries, including a break of 95 to secure a straightforward win.
