He underscored the importance of maintaining the overarching leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), promoting reform and innovation, and enhancing associated policies and mechanisms.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of increased unity between the military and the government, as well as between military and civilian sectors. He underscored the necessity of upholding the overall leadership of the Communist Party of China, driving reform and innovation, and enhancing relevant policies and mechanisms.

Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, expressed these views in a recent instruction that was shared at a national conference held on Wednesday, which honored exemplary cities and counties for their efforts in fostering mutual support between military and civilian sectors.

In his instruction, Xi characterized the cooperation between the military and civilian sectors as a "fine tradition" and noted it as a "unique political advantage" for the Party, the military, and the people.

He called on Party committees and governments at all levels to prioritize military development and reform, address challenges faced by officers and soldiers, and create a supportive social environment that values national defense and honors military personnel.

Xi emphasized that the military should maintain a strong awareness of its fundamental purpose, actively contribute to local construction and development, and engage in actions that promote the well-being and prosperity of the populace.

He advocated for strengthened collaboration between the military and civilian sectors to solidify and enhance the strong unity between the military and the government as well as between the military and the public.

During the event on Wednesday, Premier Li Qiang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, reiterated the importance of carrying out Xi's directives and advancing initiatives that foster mutual support between the military and the government, as well as between the military and citizens.

Li urged local governments and departments to cultivate a strong sense of national defense and adopt a comprehensive perspective, highlighting the need for proactive efforts to modernize national defense and strengthen the armed forces.
