Kanye West Retracts Previous Statements on Nazism
The artist known as Ye, formerly Kanye West, took to social media on Monday to retract his earlier declarations of being a Nazi, a post he later deleted.

Earlier in the year, Ye found himself at the center of a significant scandal after identifying as “a Nazi” and expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler, following a series of anti-Semitic posts on X.

“Okay […] I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a Nazi […] And hopefully you guys have come to the realization that I can and will say whatever the f*ck I feel like whenever the f*ck I feel like it,” Ye stated in the now-removed post on X.

The rapper has gained notoriety for his public anti-Semitic and pro-Nazi remarks and interviews. The repercussions of his statements have resulted in significant financial losses, amounting to hundreds of millions, due to the withdrawal of corporate sponsors in recent years.

Last month, Ye appeared in a video released by the US tabloid TMZ, donning a white t-shirt featuring a swastika. He referred to this incident as his “greatest dream” in a separate now-deleted post on X that same day.

In February, he aired a Super Bowl commercial that directed viewers to his online store, which exclusively offered white swastika t-shirts for $20 each. The listing, designated only as “HH-01,” drew connections to the Nazi salute “Heil Hitler,” provoking widespread outrage and prompting Shopify to shut down his online store.

Sportswear giant Adidas and fashion brand Balenciaga ended their collaborations with Ye in 2022 following an interview with Alex Jones on InfoWars, where he denied the Holocaust and lauded Hitler.

The 24-time Grammy Award winner was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016 and has spoken openly about his mental health challenges. Earlier this year, Ye revealed he had been diagnosed with autism and mentioned he ceased taking medication after discovering he had been misdiagnosed previously.
