Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov in Shanghai on Monday, as Bektenov is in China to participate in the 7th China International Import Expo.

Li emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic ties over 30 years ago, China and Kazakhstan have consistently respected one another and engaged as equals, exemplifying a successful model of good-neighborly relations and mutual benefits between neighboring nations.

He expressed China's readiness to collaborate with Kazakhstan to actualize the key agreements made by the two heads of state, deepen political trust, firmly support each other's core interests, and continue to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation for the welfare of both peoples.

Furthermore, Li indicated that China is keen to align development strategies with Kazakhstan, guided by high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and aims to expand bilateral trade, strengthen production capacity and investment collaboration, highlight energy and mineral partnerships, improve connectivity, and achieve more tangible results.

Li called for both nations to work together to ensure the success of the Year of Chinese Tourism in Kazakhstan next year and urged for stronger cooperation in culture, education, sub-national initiatives, and other fields to increase mutual understanding and goodwill between their peoples.

He stated that China is prepared to closely coordinate with Kazakhstan within various multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the China-Central Asia mechanism. Li highlighted the importance of actively implementing three global initiatives, practicing true multilateralism, safeguarding economic globalization and free trade, and steering global governance toward a fairer and more equitable direction.

Bektenov noted that Kazakhstan-China relations have reached unprecedented levels in recent years, under the strategic direction of the two heads of state. He affirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to its relationship with China and its willingness to enhance high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, transportation, science and technology, culture and education, and improve connectivity within the Belt and Road cooperation framework.

He welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest in Kazakhstan and expressed eagerness to strengthen communication and collaboration with China through multilateral frameworks like the SCO and the China-Central Asia mechanism.
