The forum was co-hosted by CMG and the Shandong Provincial People's Government, centered around the theme "Exchange, Mutual Learning, Technology Empowerment: The Power of Civilization in Transformation and Development."
Approximately 300 participants from 95 countries and regions, which included political leaders, heads of international organizations, mainstream media executives, diplomats, experts, scholars, and representatives from multinational companies, engaged both online and offline.
Attendees expressed hopes that the CMG Forum would enhance exchanges and collaborative learning, foster innovative partnerships amid technological changes, infuse new momentum into the creation of an open and inclusive international communication ecosystem, and unite civilizations in the pursuit of world peace and development.
The forum also launched the 2025 global tour of the cultural initiative "China Through Its Intangible Heritage" and introduced various international co-production projects dedicated to cultural exchange, along with research reports that address subjects such as "Civilizational Exchanges and Media Empowerment: Pioneering Practices in the Integration of Culture and Tourism."
Additionally, a CMG news gathering initiative, "China Up Close, Shandong Tour," was inaugurated on the same day. Media personnel from around the world will explore cities in Shandong, including Jining, Qingdao, and Yantai, taking a global perspective to showcase the historical roots and modern advancements of Qilu culture. This term refers to the ancient kingdoms of Qi and Lu, which existed in what is now Shandong Province prior to the establishment of the Qin Dynasty, while sharing Chinese narratives that blend traditional and contemporary elements.
Furthermore, the CMG Forum extended invitations to international guests for the upcoming 11th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, which is also set to take place in Qufu, the birthplace of the influential Chinese philosopher Confucius.
