China includes two U.S. companies on its unreliable entity list
On Tuesday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that China has opted to include two U.S. companies, PVH Corp. and Illumina, Inc., in its unreliable entity list.
According to a statement from the Ministry, both companies have breached standard market trading principles, terminated normal trade relations with Chinese firms, and implemented discriminatory policies against Chinese companies, resulting in significant harm to their legitimate rights and interests.
This action aims to uphold national sovereignty, security, and developmental interests in line with applicable laws and regulations, the statement indicated.
The unreliable entity list mechanism will impose relevant measures against these firms based on existing laws and regulations, the statement further disclosed.
In a response to media inquiries, a spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce reiterated that China has been cautious in its approach regarding the unreliable entity list, which specifically targets a limited number of foreign entities that violate market norms and Chinese laws.
The spokesperson further affirmed that foreign companies operating with integrity and in compliance with the law need not be worried.
As always, the Chinese government is open to welcoming businesses from around the globe to invest and operate in China. It remains dedicated to offering a stable, equitable, and predictable business environment for foreign companies that comply with laws and regulations, the spokesperson concluded.
