At a high-level meeting during the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on Thursday, attendees discussed the future of collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with an emphasis on enhancing the quality of cooperation.

The session, led by Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Kenyan President William Ruto, centered on the themes of high-quality BRI collaboration.

Vice Premier Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the importance of Africa as a crucial partner in the BRI. He emphasized the significant achievements made through enhanced strategic alignment and practical cooperation between China and Africa.

"China is willing to work with Africa to set a benchmark for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and bring more tangible benefits to both peoples," Ding stated. He advocated for the creation of a multi-dimensional connectivity network and the alignment of rules and standards to foster mutually beneficial cooperation throughout the entire infrastructure lifecycle.

Ding also emphasized the importance of enhancing economic and trade relations, exploring new areas of pragmatic cooperation, and bolstering partnerships in public health, green transition, and the digital economy. He called for efforts to benefit the public through cooperative projects and to elevate cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

African representatives at the meeting expressed their enthusiasm for intensifying strategic alignment with China, deepening collaboration across different sectors, and pushing high-quality BRI cooperation to new levels.

The meeting was attended by approximately 350 delegates from China, various African nations, and regional organizations, all focused on advancing their collaborative agenda under the BRI.
