PUMCH Collaborates with Five Provinces to Establish 'Internet+Medical Alliance'
Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), one of China's most renowned hospitals, announced a new medical assistance program on Tuesday, emphasizing the role of digital technology.

In collaboration with 156 medical institutions from Hebei, Henan, Shaanxi, Liaoning, and Inner Mongolia, PUMCH signed an agreement for the "Internet+Medical Alliance" medical assistance initiative.

This agreement signifies the official launch of a regional initiative aimed at sharing medical resources. By utilizing digital technology, the partnership seeks to dismantle regional barriers in healthcare, representing a significant advancement in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy within the medical sector and supporting the Healthy China initiative.

The Hebei provincial government's Beijing office played a crucial role as a facilitator, connecting the platform and assisting 20 Hebei hospitals in signing the agreement during the ceremony.

An official from the office remarked that this cooperative agreement is a key step towards implementing the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy. It aims to improve grassroots healthcare services in Hebei by bringing high-quality medical resources from Beijing, enabling residents to access advanced medical care in their local areas.

Collaboration is essential for advancing medical reform and facilitating the flow of high-quality medical resources. The "Internet+Medical Alliance" model will incorporate remote consultations, online training, and case discussions to enhance the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of grassroots healthcare institutions, furthering the implementation of a tiered diagnosis and treatment system. Looking ahead, PUMCH plans to establish long-term cooperative mechanisms with partner medical institutions through technical support, talent training, and joint discipline development to elevate grassroots healthcare services comprehensively.

By implementing a unified information-sharing platform, the collaboration will facilitate mutual recognition of test and examination results as well as coordinated remote medical services. This approach will minimize redundant testing and reduce medical costs for patients while increasing the efficiency of healthcare resource utilization. Additionally, real-time case discussions and remote teaching will offer regular learning opportunities for healthcare workers in grassroots institutions, fostering the widespread adoption of standardized diagnostic and treatment protocols.
