Tish James says she's received death threats amidst Trump prosecutions
The New York attorney general, who is pursuing a civil fraud case against Trump, said she has increased security and fears a "lone wolf" attack.
NEW YORK – Attorney General Tish James said she’s had threats on her life amidst partisan anger fueled by former President Donald Trump’s legal cases and is concerned about lone wolf-style attacks.
“Here in the city of New York, and in the state of New York, we’re taking precautions,” James said at a live tapping of “Pod Save America” in Manhattan Monday night.
“I have more law enforcement around me these days, individuals have threatened my life, but I will not be paralyzed by fear by no means. I'm from Brooklyn,” James, a Democrat, said.
“I'm really concerned obviously because they are feeding into all of this anger that, unfortunately, currently exists in our society and we find ourselves more polarized than ever, I think, since the Civil War,” James said.
“It’s rather unfortunate and I'm very much concerned that individuals, lone wolfs, will obviously resort to violence,” she said.
James, who is pursuing a civil fraud case against Trump, added that she was undeterred.
“Am I concerned about my personal safety? I don't think about it. The reality is I've got a job to do each and every day. And again, I cannot be paralyzed by fear. I've got to wake up each and every day with this fire in my belly to represent the interests of the citizens of the state of New York to serve this state," she said.
