10 events at Diamond League in Xiamen to feature 16 home athletes
The first World Athletics Diamond League meeting of 2025 is set to kick off on Saturday in Xiamen, located in southeast China's Fujian Province. Zhu Yaming, along with 15 other domestic athletes, will compete across 10 events in the tournament....

Although the men's triple jump does not count for Diamond League points in Xiamen, Zhu attaches significant importance to this competition. Last month, at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, he secured a hard-fought silver medal, marking a comeback after enduring a two-year slump in competition. This event will be his first appearance since that achievement, where he will face fellow Chinese competitor Su Wen and Burkina Faso's Hugues Fabrice Zango, who won at the Budapest World Championships.
Zhu previously earned a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics and a bronze at the 2022 Oregon World Championships. Following a dip in form over the next two years, his partnership with Brazilian coach Nelio Moura has reinvigorated his performance. Now, Zhu is targeting further success at this year's Tokyo World Championships and the National Games of China.
"I really enjoy coming to Xiamen to compete in the Diamond League," Zhu stated. "I made some adjustments during the training session, but I feel I'm not in my best form yet, so I still need some time to recover. However, when it comes to the real competition, I will give it my all. I believe that to finish in the top three, a mark of at least 17.30 meters will be necessary. My years of experience in major competitions have been a great help, and I'm eager to maintain the strong momentum from the indoor season and keep achieving better results."
