Several fatalities reported following mass shooting incident in Sweden
An estimated ten people have reportedly been killed in a mass shooting at an adult education center in western Sweden, according to local police. The country's prime minister has characterized the incident as the “worst attack” in its history.

The shooting allegedly took place in the city of Orebro at 12:33 pm local time. Initially, police stated that at least five individuals had been shot, but the casualty figures later rose.

During a press conference, a police spokesperson announced that an investigation has been initiated into attempted murder, arson, and aggravated weapons offenses.

A gunman killed around ten people in an adult education center in Örebro before being shot dead. The minister calls it "the worst mass killing in Sweden's history." The shooter was unknown to police, and investigators are not ruling out the possibility of additional suspects.

“It's still too early to provide further details about the perpetrator,” local police chief Roberto Eid Forest said during the briefing, as quoted by The Guardian. “The operation is ongoing, and more information will undoubtedly emerge,” he added.

Regional authorities confirmed that six individuals have been hospitalized. Among them, five sustained gunshot wounds, with four undergoing surgery; one is in critical condition. Notably, none of those admitted to the hospital are children.

Reports indicate that police suspect the perpetrator may be among the injured or deceased. Authorities have stated that the gunman acted independently and had no prior criminal record or known ties to law enforcement. Local broadcaster SVT reported, citing sources, that the suspected shooter is a man estimated to be about 35 years old.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the attack as a “terrible act of violence,” posting on X that “being confined to a classroom with fear for your own life is a nightmare that no one should have to experience.”

Numerous photos and videos purportedly documenting the attack and its aftermath have circulated online.
