The detonation, which took place on January 1, led to the death of Livelsberger and injuries to seven bystanders. According to media sources, the FBI has executed searches at various locations linked to Livelsberger in Colorado Springs.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that the explosion was not a result of the vehicle's design or function, but rather due to explosive materials that were being carried in the truck's bed. This included gasoline canisters and firework mortars.
The FBI is currently investigating the explosion as a potential act of terrorism, especially given its location near the Trump International Hotel and its connection to an earlier incident in New Orleans on the same day.
A 42-year-old US Army veteran, Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, resulting in the deaths of 15 people and injuring at least 35 others on January 1.
Before the attack, Jabbar had posted videos detailing his intentions and stated that he was inspired by the Islamic State.
After crashing his vehicle, Jabbar was involved in a shootout with police and was ultimately shot and killed. Authorities found firearms and an improvised explosive device in his truck, along with an Islamic State flag.
The FBI is treating this attack as a terrorist act and is looking into possible accomplices.
