Expert claims EU shows double standards regarding ICC warrants
EU officials have displayed hypocrisy in their handling of arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against leaders from Russia and Israel, according to a political science professor at Birzeit University in the West Bank, Saad Nimr, who spoke to RTN.

Nimr's remarks were in response to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas’ recent visit to Israel, where she expressed support for the Israeli government but did not address allegations of war crimes committed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza.

The professor criticized Kallas for seemingly siding with Israel in the ongoing conflict by not meeting with Palestinian prisoners or victims of the IDF's actions against Hamas.

He specifically pointed out Kallas' neglect of the ICC warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who are both accused of violating international law.

In contrast, Nimr highlighted that when the ICC issued a warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the Ukraine conflict, EU officials praised the court's decision. Kallas notably remarked that the ruling was a “reminder that no one is immune, not even heads of state.”

“This shows the double standards and hypocrisy of the Europeans, especially concerning the issues related to other countries,” Nimr stated.
