Bayern Overcome St. Pauli Challenge to Maintain League Title Pursuit
Leroy Sane saved Bayern Munich from a shaky performance with two goals in the second half on Saturday, leading the Bundesliga leaders to a 3-2 victory over relegation-threatened St. Pauli. This win allows Bayern to maintain a six-point advantage at the top of the table.

Having recently dropped unexpected points against Bochum and Union Berlin, Bayern was under pressure to avoid a third slip following reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen's 3-1 victory over Bochum on Friday, which narrowed the gap to three points. However, Bayern demonstrated a sluggish performance against a fearless St. Pauli squad, who nearly took the lead early in the match when a header from Jackson Irvine struck the bar.

The visitors presented Bayern with the first goal just two minutes later when Siebe Van der Heyden was caught off guard at left-back. Van der Heyden lost possession to Jamal Musiala, allowing Bayern to surge into the box, where Harry Kane found the net from close range. This marked Kane's first goal against St. Pauli, making him the only player to score against every opponent he has faced in the Bundesliga.

Undeterred, St. Pauli earned a well-deserved equalizer just before the 30-minute mark, with Elias Saad finding the net. The Tunisian forward went unnoticed in the Bayern box and converted a cross from Manolis Saliakas, marking his first goal since September.

After halftime, Sane put Bayern back in the lead, firing the ball home unopposed after a smart switch of play left him with plenty of space on the left flank. He secured the win 20 minutes later by converting a cross from Kane from close range after a swift Bayern counterattack.

Despite the win, Bayern faced a tense conclusion as Lars Ritzka scored for St. Pauli in added time. Furthermore, the Bavarians experienced additional woes when defender Hiroki Ito had to leave the match in the final minutes, contributing to an increasing list of injury concerns.
