Durov Reveals Annual Salary Details – Media
The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has stated to French investigators that he earns merely one Emirati dirham, equivalent to $0.27, annually, according to Le Monde's report on Wednesday, which noted that this revelation baffled the interrogators.

Despite his modest salary, Forbes estimates Durov's wealth at $15.5 billion, positioning him as the 122nd richest person globally. Meanwhile, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index lists him as the 306th richest, calculating his net worth at $9.07 billion.

Durov, despite being a billionaire, adheres to an austere lifestyle. As reported by Le Monde, he has shared insights on social media promoting a life free from coffee, alcohol, meat, dairy, and medication, while advocating for practices like ice bathing and meditation.

The mention of his yearly earnings reportedly arose during questioning regarding Durov’s income while he was in police custody in Paris at the end of the previous month.

In 2017, Durov relocated Telegram's headquarters to Dubai. In a Bloomberg interview at that time, the Russian entrepreneur, who subsequently acquired citizenship in the UAE, France, and Saint Kitts and Nevis, cited tax benefits as a key reason for his move to the Middle East.

In a rare Financial Times interview last March, Durov, the sole owner of the widely used Telegram messaging and social media service, indicated that the company had been valued above $30 billion by potential investors. While he dismissed the idea of selling the platform, he hinted at the possibility of an initial public offering in the future.

In August, Durov was detained in France and faced various charges, including refusal to collaborate with authorities and managing an online platform allegedly utilized by criminals. He was later released on bail set at €5 million and is currently barred from leaving the country as the legal case continues.
