Home favorite Chen Yufei secured her first title at the Badminton Asia Championships by overcoming compatriot Han Yue in an exciting all-Chinese women's singles final held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Chen demonstrated resilience, bouncing back from a difficult start to win the match 11-21, 21-14, 21-9 after 66 minutes of intense play. This victory marks her impressive return to form after an extended break following her disappointment at the 2024 Paris Summer Games, where she missed out on achieving a second consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Chen, a former World No. 1 who made her competitive comeback just two months ago, rated her performance as "8 out of 10."

"I've learned to play more relaxed and enjoy the game rather than feeling stressed," said the newly-crowned Asian champion. "There's still room for improvement as I continue regaining my best condition."

In the men’s singles final, Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn triumphed over local favorite Lu Guangzu to capture the continental title.

Vitidsarn, the world champion, won the first game with a score of 21-12. The match concluded with him leading 11-6 in the second game when Lu retired due to a back injury.

"I have won the Asian Youth Championships before, so this title means a lot to me," Vitidsarn remarked.

In the women’s doubles final, the top-seeded Chinese duo of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning claimed victory, overpowering Japan's Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida with scores of 21-15, 21-19.

The men’s doubles final featured Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, who defeated the local pair of Chen Boyang and Liu Yi with a score of 21-19, 21-17 in 47 minutes. Additionally, the mixed doubles title was won by Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet from Hong Kong SAR, who defeated Japan's Hiroki Midorikawa and Natsu Saito.
