China commits to enhancing aviation safety in response to recent foreign incidents
China plans to enhance aviation safety protocols in response to recent incidents involving foreign airlines.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) is implementing a range of measures to guarantee the safety of airline operations in response to increased scrutiny of civil aviation safety following significant incidents involving Azerbaijan Airlines and Jeju Air from South Korea. This was conveyed by an official during a press conference on Friday.
Shu Mingjiang, the CAAC's director of aviation safety, stated that the agency has consistently carried out safety risk assessments and investigations of flight operations in line with Chinese civil aviation laws and regulations, as well as pertinent international aviation standards.
In light of the recent civil aviation safety events, the CAAC has adopted the following key actions:
First, the CAAC convened a special meeting to share information about the incidents, closely monitor the status of ongoing accident investigations and root cause analyses, enhance awareness of potential risks, and adopt a problem-oriented strategy.
Second, targeted measures to prevent bird strike incidents have been intensified, with a strong emphasis placed on the primary responsibility of airports. The CAAC encourages all airports to accurately monitor bird migratory patterns during the winter months and to enhance efforts to disperse birds in and around airport facilities. The use of technological tools to improve bird strike prevention accuracy is also being emphasized.
Third, a thorough investigation into runway safety hazards is underway to effectively mitigate related safety risks.
Fourth, the CAAC is enhancing emergency drills to boost the efficiency of emergency response efforts. The agency will press relevant parties to strengthen emergency training and elevate drill standards to ensure readiness.
Fifth, the CAAC plans to implement comprehensive special safety supervision and inspections during the Spring Festival to swiftly address any potential safety hazards.
