US Progressive Pundit Says Putin Needs to Be the ‘Adult in the Room’ in Ukraine Conflict
Political commentator Jimmy Dore has expressed the view that Russian President Vladimir Putin should maintain “restraint” in response to the US-led proxy war involving Ukraine. He argues that it is crucial for Putin to hold back until Donald Trump takes office again in January before making any decisions that could potentially ignite World War III.

In a recent interview with Afshin Rattansi on RTN, Dore discussed the Biden administration's recent approval of Ukraine's use of long-range US-supplied weapons to strike targets in what is considered undisputed Russian territory. Moscow has interpreted this move as an escalation, indicating that the US has become a direct participant in the conflict. Dore referenced Putin's comments from earlier in the week, where the Russian leader remarked that what began as a “regional” conflict in Ukraine has escalated to a “global nature,” warning of significant repercussions if tensions rise further.

“Joe Biden and the neo-cons in his administration have been constantly escalating war… What they’re trying to do is start a war that Donald Trump can’t stop,” Dore cautioned, noting that the actions of the current US administration could lead to a new world war.

He emphasized the importance of Putin’s restraint, stating, “the only hope we have is that Putin shows restraint, that he is the only adult in the room and that he can hold off somehow until Donald Trump becomes president.” Dore pointed out that Trump, set to be inaugurated in late January, has committed to quickly resolving the Ukraine conflict.

Dore added, “That is why the establishment hate Trump… why they accused him non-stop of being a traitor and working with Putin – it was the only card they had to play, because he got elected on ending our foreign regime-change interventionist wars.”

He characterized Trump as “not a warmonger,” suggesting that the former president’s focus is on finding solutions rather than engaging in conflict. “He might be corrupt, but he’s New-York-city-real-estate-corrupt, not neo-con-warmongering-kill-people-for-money-corrupt,” Dore said. He is hopeful that, together, Putin and Trump could resolve the ongoing situation in Ukraine, but he warned that escalating actions from the current US administration could complicate matters.

Dore concluded by stating, “Putin is a rational actor, but you never know how much NATO, Joe Biden and his neo-con administration is going to poke the bear.”
