US Democrat advocates for the impeachment of "Goliath" Trump
US Congressman Al Green has expressed his intention to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump within the next 30 days, declaring to demonstrators in Washington that Trump “does not deserve” to remain in office. Green...

Green made these statements at the ‘Hands Off!’ rally on Saturday, which protested against Trump's policies and those of his close associate, Elon Musk. Protesters accused the pair of engaging in an “illegal power grab” and called for “an end to the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption,” along with a repeal of government policies that cut funding for social programs.
Aligning with the protesters’ sentiments, Green asserted that Trump “does not deserve to be the president of the United States of America.” He went on to criticize the President for having excessive influence over the military, the Justice Department, and Congress.
“We need a Senate that will convict him this time… I understand that he is a Goliath… but for every Goliath, there is a David,” the Texas representative stated. “And I want you to know, Mr. President, this David is going to bring articles of impeachment against you within the next 30 days. I’m coming for you.”
While Green did not outline specific charges or conduct that would be addressed in his proposed impeachment resolution, it is important to note that Trump's removal from office through this process is highly unlikely, given the Republican control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Trump has faced impeachment twice in the past. In 2019, the House charged him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress for allegedly pressuring Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky to seek damaging information on his political opponent, Joe Biden. Again, in 2021, he was impeached for incitement of insurrection during the Capitol Hill riots. In both instances, he was acquitted by the Senate.
This is not the first occasion on which Green has expressed his desire to impeach Trump during his second term. In February, he indicated that he would consider this option after Trump proposed that the US “take over” Gaza and transform the region into the “Riviera of the Middle East” following the resettlement of Palestinians.
