Thousands of supporters gathered in central Paris to rally behind Marine Le Pen, the three-time presidential candidate who was sentenced for embezzlement last Monday.
Le Pen spoke to the crowd from a temporary stage at Place Vauban, situated near the golden dome of Les Invalides and the tomb of Napoleon, with the backing of 120 RN MPs. She described her prosecution as a political “witch-hunt,” asserting she would “not give up.”
“This decision has trampled on everything I hold most dear: my people, my country, and my honor,” Le Pen remarked as her supporters waved French flags and chanted slogans like “Marine for president!” and “They won’t steal 2027 from us!”
The Paris court imposed a four-year prison sentence on Le Pen, with two years suspended and the remaining two to be served under house arrest. Additionally, she received a five-year ban from holding political office, effectively barring her from the 2027 presidential race.
BREAKING:
Thousands gather in Paris to protest against a French court banning Marine Le Pen from running for president in 2027. The protest was organized by the President of the National Rally, 29-year-old Jordan Bardella, who has replaced Le Pen as the party’s presidential candidate.
According to prosecutors, Le Pen misappropriated EU funds meant to cover the salaries of aides working in the European Parliament in order to pay staff in France. She has denied any wrongdoing and plans to appeal the ruling.
During the rally, Le Pen criticized the EU and its anti-fraud agency, OLAF, labeling it a “totalitarian organism.” She claimed, “The system’s only purpose is to stay in place, no matter the cost,” and argued that national leaders are being persecuted throughout the bloc.
