Donald Trump has warned that the U.S. is perilously close to entering World War III within months due to the policies of President Joe Biden's administration. During a campaign rally in California—typically a Democratic stronghold—Trump asserted that a significant number of Americans feel the nation is headed in the wrong direction. However, he emphasized an even greater concern.
”We got a problem. I actually worry about the next three months… I worry we’ll end up in a world war because of the people that we have [in the administration],” he stated.
Trump assured his supporters that if he wins the presidency in November, he would “act with urgency and speed to save America and to rescue the people of California from [Democratic nominee] Kamala Harris’ atrocious failures.”
He remarked on his previous tenure in office, claiming, “I kept… [the] country safe, we had no wars.”
“I’ll keep you out of wars… I will end [the] war in Ukraine, stop the chaos in the Middle East, and I will prevent very definitely World War III,” he added.
Trump has consistently claimed that he could resolve the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office, even before being sworn in, though specifics of his plan have not been fully disclosed. His running mate, J.D. Vance, suggested that Trump might initiate discussions with Russia, Ukraine, and European stakeholders to create a demilitarized zone along the existing front line, with the understanding that Kiev would refrain from joining NATO.
Harris, a strong advocate for Ukraine, has criticized Trump's strategy, arguing that it would effectively compel Kiev to capitulate.
The Kremlin has also voiced skepticism about Trump's peace promises, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asserting that he doesn't believe a “magic wand” exists to end the conflict immediately.
In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that Moscow would agree to a ceasefire and initiate peace talks if Ukraine began withdrawing its troops from the Russian-claimed regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye, along with committing to neutrality. He later noted that a complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Russia’s Kursk Region would also be a prerequisite for negotiations.
