Trump accuses Democrats of pushing the world toward 'catastrophe'
The Republican candidate has claimed that the party’s leadership is risking a global conflict.

Former US President Donald Trump has placed the blame for a retaliatory strike by Iran on Israel on his successor, Joe Biden, and his opponent in the upcoming presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris.

At a campaign rally in Waunakee, Wisconsin, Trump addressed the latest escalation in the Middle East crisis and posted a related statement on his Truth Social platform. He criticized the Biden administration for failing to contain Iran, suggesting that he would have managed the situation more effectively.

Trump asserted that during his presidency, Tehran was “starved for cash, fully contained, and desperate to make a deal.” He added, “Kamala flooded them with American cash and, ever since, they’ve been exporting terror all over.”

He emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, ”War or the threat of war is raging everywhere, and the two incompetents running this country are leading us to the brink of World War III.” He warned that if Democrats win next month’s election, “the world goes up in smoke.”

Tehran described its strike as retaliation for the assassination of senior figures in the militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah by Israel on Iranian and Lebanese soil. Both sides have made conflicting claims regarding the effectiveness of the ballistic missile strike, and Israel has vowed to respond, with media reports predicting action within days.

Both major US political parties appear to be providing unconditional support for Israel’s actions. However, this stance has become somewhat of a liability for the Democrats, as a significant portion of their supporters has protested against continued arms shipments to Israel amid its military siege of the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.

The “uncommitted” movement has threatened to withhold their votes unless Biden exerts pressure on Israel to secure a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict. Although they refrained from publicly urging people to vote against Harris last month, they did express their disapproval of Trump.

The current escalation traces back to a deadly Hamas incursion into southern Israel nearly a year ago. Recently, Israel has shifted its focus from Gaza to Lebanon, reportedly with the approval of the Biden administration.
