Musk Accuses Biden of ‘Impugning’ US Integrity
The billionaire appointed by Donald Trump as the government efficiency czar commented on President Joe Biden's decision to pardon his son Hunter, suggesting that it could compromise America's "integrity." Biden had previously indicated he wouldn't interfere in the legal matters surrounding his son.

In June, Hunter Biden was found guilty on three felony counts for providing false information regarding his drug history on gun-purchase paperwork when he bought a revolver in 2018. Additionally, he pleaded guilty in September to three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax offenses, with sentencing scheduled for December.

In response to a post on X by fellow entrepreneur David Marcus on Sunday, Musk stated: “I don’t care about the drugs stuff, but impugning the integrity of the United States is not ok.”

Following his election victory on November 5, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency, which is expected to operate independently of the federal government.

On Sunday evening, Biden announced that the “full and unconditional pardon” extends to any offenses his son “has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024, including but not limited to all offenses charged or prosecuted.”

In his response, Trump criticized the pardon, labeling it an “abuse and miscarriage of Justice.” He inquired whether the pardon also encompasses “the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?” This reference pertains to individuals prosecuted for their involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol unrest.

Numerous Republican lawmakers have voiced their outrage over Biden’s decision. Additionally, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova remarked to Izvestia that the pardon represents a “caricature of democracy.”
