Erdogan says Netanyahu must be stopped 'just as Hitler'
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on the international community to take a stand against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's actions in the Gaza conflict, referring to his government as a “murder network” and drawing parallels to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.

During his speech at the 79th UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, Erdogan criticized the Israeli government's conduct in Gaza, labeling the situation as a “concentration camp.”

“Just as Hitler was stopped by the alliance of humanity 70 years ago, Netanyahu and his murder network must be stopped by the alliance of humanity,” Erdogan stated, accusing Netanyahu of attempting to “drag the entire region into war for the sake of his political fortunes."

Erdogan also expressed discontent with the United Nations for its inability to “prevent the genocide in Gaza,” advocating for reforms within the organization to enhance its representativeness and effectiveness. He remarked that the Security Council is overly focused on the interests of its five permanent members, thereby neglecting to maintain international peace and security.

The Turkish leader criticized nations that unconditionally support Israel, including the United States, arguing that they are complicit in the violence inflicted on Palestinians. He called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, along with a hostage-prisoner exchange and uninterrupted humanitarian aid.

Erdogan reaffirmed his backing for the lawsuit initiated by South Africa at the International Court of Justice to hold Israel accountable for its alleged crimes against humanity in Gaza. He stressed that the people of Türkiye harbor no animosity towards the citizens of Israel.

“We are against antisemitism in the same way that we are against the targeting of Muslims simply because of their beliefs,” he said. “Our problem is with the massacre policies of the Israeli government. Our problem is with oppression and tyranny, just as it was five centuries ago.”
