However, Kuai regained her momentum in the second game, reaching game point and closing it out 11-9 when Akula failed to convert a shot, leveling the match. The third game saw Akula jump to a 3-0 advantage with a commanding forehand winner, ultimately taking the game 11-7.
In a turnaround, Kuai showcased her skills in the fourth game, sprinting to a remarkable 9-0 lead. Although Akula managed to add five points to her score, Kuai finished strong, taking the game 11-5 and pushing the match to a decisive fifth game. In the final showdown, Kuai exhibited impressive strength and concentration, winning convincingly 11-2 after Akula's forehand went long, completing her comeback and moving forward in the competition.
On the men’s side, Xiang Peng triumphed over local favorite Jang Woo-jin, disappointing the home crowd. Xiang won the first game 11-8, but Jang quickly equalized with the same score. The third game provided a thrilling display, with both players engaging in intense rallies. Although Jang took a 3-1 lead by capitalizing on a wide shot from Xiang, the World No. 23 from China fought back to clinch the game 13-11.
On match point, Xiang executed a commanding forehand into the corner to seal the game 11-9, securing a 3-1 victory in the match. He is set to face either Brazil's Hugo Calderano or South Korea's An Jae-hyun in the next round.
