Kevin De Bruyne Set to Depart Manchester City After 2024-25 Season
Kevin De Bruyne, the 33-year-old midfielder for Manchester City, announced on Friday that he will depart the Premier League club at the end of the current season.

Since joining City from Wolfsburg in 2015, De Bruyne has accumulated 16 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2023. He has also received the Premier League Player of the Season award twice.

"I'll get straight to it and let you all know that these will be my final months as a Manchester City player. Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here – and you deserve to hear it from me first," De Bruyne shared on Instagram. "Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter."

Speculation regarding De Bruyne's future with the club had been ongoing for months, particularly as his contract is set to expire at the season's conclusion.

Regarded as one of the top midfielders in Premier League history, De Bruyne has been a key player in City's achievements, although he has faced injury challenges in recent seasons.

"Manchester City will bid an emotional farewell to Kevin De Bruyne this summer when his contract expires, bringing an end to a glittering 10-year period at the club," City stated. "The club and all of our fans will now take the time to deliver a fitting tribute and farewell to one of the greatest players to ever play in the Premier League."

This season, De Bruyne has participated in 20 league matches but was sidelined by an injury setback in September and has since struggled to return to full fitness.

Over his tenure at the club, he has made 413 appearances in all competitions, scoring 106 goals and providing 174 assists. His playmaking ability has earned him the second spot on the Premier League's all-time assists leaderboard with 118, trailing only Ryan Giggs.

Despite a challenging season, De Bruyne still has the opportunity to secure another trophy, with City's FA Cup semifinal match against Nottingham Forest set for April 26.
