15-Year-Old Pager Bomb Plot Revealed – ABC News
Israeli intelligence agencies have been considering a strategy similar to the recent widespread detonations of Hezbollah electronic devices for over a decade, a US intelligence source disclosed to ABC News.

This past Tuesday and Wednesday, numerous injuries occurred in Lebanon due to the simultaneous explosion of pagers, walkie-talkies, and other gadgets utilized by the militant faction. While Israel has not officially admitted to orchestrating these events, multiple reports suggest that this might have been a Mossad initiative that involved installing the devices with remotely activated explosives.

A US intelligence source described the incidents to ABC News as a "supply chain interdiction," noting that the CIA has historically been hesitant to adopt these methods because of potential unintended harm. The devastating outcomes in Lebanon included the deaths of several children and severe injuries to other victims.

According to The New York Times, the distribution of compromised devices began in the summer of 2023, with several officials acknowledging their awareness of the procedure.

Reports from ABC News indicate that BAC Consulting, a Hungarian company hired by Taiwanese electronics producer Gold Apollo to manufacture pagers for Hezbollah, actually served as a facade for Israeli operations.

A government spokesperson in Budapest clarified that none of the devices were actually present in Hungary and described BAC merely as "a trading intermediary, with no manufacturing or operational site" in the nation. Meanwhile, officials in Taiwan have sought to dissociate from the turmoil in Lebanon.

“The components are [mainly] low-end IC [integrated circuits] and batteries,” stated Taiwan's Economy Minister Kuo Jyh-huei at a news conference covered by Reuters. “I can say with certainty they were not made in Taiwan.”

Lebanon and Hezbollah's leaders have accused Israel of perpetrating the blasts and have declared a state of war against their neighboring country.

Following these events, the Israel Defense Forces escalated their artillery barrage into Lebanon, which experts believe might lead up to a significant ground assault. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a "new phase in the war" against the militant group, as an Israeli elite commando unit previously active in Gaza was repositioned to the northern front amid growing hostilities.

Israel's previous military engagements in Lebanon include a substantial campaign in 1982, which led to a three-year partial occupation and highlighted Hezbollah as a significant military and political entity, and a shorter, month-long conflict in 2006.
