World leaders extend congratulations to Trump following his election victory

On Wednesday, Trump announced his success against Democratic opponent Kamala Harris, having secured victories in vital battleground states. He stated that his upcoming presidency will “truly be the golden age of America.”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was among the first to express his congratulations, referring to Trump's achievement as “the biggest comeback in US political history.” With this win, Trump will become the second US president to serve non-consecutive terms, joining Grover Cleveland from the late 1800s.
Orban proclaimed that the election result is “a much-needed victory for the world” in a post on X.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Trump's victory as “history’s greatest comeback.” He affirmed his commitment to Trump, stating, “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his eagerness “to work together” with Trump “with respect and ambition... for more peace and prosperity,” echoing their collaborative efforts during Trump’s first term from 2017 to 2021.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, reacting to Trump’s “impressive election victory,” expressed his anticipation for “an era of a strong US under… decisive leadership.” He emphasized his appreciation for Trump's “peace through strength” approach, believing it could facilitate a just peace in Ukraine, and hoped that bipartisan support for Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia would persist through Trump’s presidency.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated his “friend” Trump, indicating his readiness to renew cooperation and strengthen the “strategic partnership” between India and the US. Modi urged that they “work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity.”
In contrast, the Kremlin announced last month that Russian President Vladimir Putin is unlikely to congratulate the election winner, citing the US as “an extremely unfriendly state” towards Russia.
