Article by Xi on Progressing Toward a Leading Nation in Culture Set for Publication
An article authored by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, focusing on hastening the advancement of China as a prominent cultural nation, is set to be published on Wednesday.

This piece, written by Xi—who also serves as the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission—will appear in the eighth edition of Qiushi Journal for this year, which is the primary publication of the CPC Central Committee.
In the article, Xi discusses how establishing China as a cultural leader is integral to the broader modernization of China, the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and enhancing international competitiveness.
He stresses the importance of maintaining a commitment to the strategic objective of making China a leading cultural nation by 2035. This goal, he asserts, will provide a robust cultural foundation for constructing a powerful country and promoting national rejuvenation.
The piece outlines five key requirements for expediting the establishment of a leading cultural nation: adhering to the path of a socialist culture with Chinese characteristics, fostering the cultural creativity of the entire population, prioritizing the people in cultural development, promoting Chinese cultural heritage through creative transformation and innovative development, and continuously bolstering China's cultural soft power and the attractiveness of Chinese culture.
Lastly, the article calls on Party committees and government bodies at all levels to prioritize cultural progress, enhance leadership, and cultivate a strong collective effort toward building a culturally prominent nation.
