A Chinese mainland official has called on Taiwan business people and enterprises to collaborate in facing external risks and challenges.

During a meeting in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, Song Tao, who leads both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, emphasized the importance of unity among Taiwan's business community.

He remarked that the tariff war initiated by the United States cannot change the strong fundamentals, resilience, and long-term positive outlook of the mainland's economy. “We have the wisdom and capability to tackle and overcome all challenges. The mainland will always be a strong backing for Taiwan business people,” he stated.

Song assured that the mainland is committed to understanding and addressing the difficulties faced by Taiwan businesses, promising to implement practical policy measures that ensure equal treatment, enhance support, and strengthen industrial and supply chain connectivity across the Taiwan Strait.

He expressed a desire for Taiwan business people and enterprises to remain optimistic and proactive, encouraging them to engage in cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation to effectively confront external challenges.

Representatives of Taiwan businesses at the meeting noted that unfair tariffs from the United States have significantly disrupted the global trade order, creating pressure for some export-oriented Taiwanese companies. They acknowledged that the mainland's institutional strengths and economic resilience provide a solid foundation for managing these risks.

The representatives highlighted that the mainland possesses a complete industrial system, a vast market, and considerable investment and consumption potential, which instills confidence among Taiwan business people in overcoming challenges with timely government support.

They expressed their commitment to participating in the integrated development of industrial and supply chains across the Taiwan Strait, adapting to the new development framework, and pursuing new growth opportunities. The representatives affirmed that Taiwan-funded enterprises have always aligned with the mainland, firmly supporting the country’s counteractions against the United States, and they are confident in collectively winning this tariff conflict.
