White House Seeks Recorded Apology from Zelensky – Fox
An anonymous source has informed the outlet that a public apology is required for resuming talks on a US-Ukraine minerals deal.

If Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky wishes to restart negotiations with the US regarding a rare earths agreement, he must publicly apologize for his behavior during a meeting with US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance on Friday, according to Fox News, which cites an unnamed American official.

In the weeks leading up to the tense encounter at the White House, Kiev and Washington had been negotiating an agreement to grant the US access to Ukraine’s natural resources. However, the discussions have come to a standstill following Zelensky’s contentious exchange with the American leadership.

On Monday, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy reported that “there’s quite a disconnect happening here at the White House with their allies in Kiev.” He went on to say, “I have been told by a senior official here that nothing’s gonna happen with this minerals deal until Zelensky goes in front of cameras and makes an explicit public apology for the way that he behaved… in the Oval Office.”

Meanwhile, Zelensky expressed to the BBC on Sunday his willingness to maintain a “constructive dialogue” with Washington and sign the agreement.

Following the confrontational meeting on Friday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio also suggested that Zelensky apologize “for wasting our time... [and] turning this thing into the fiasco for him that it became.”

In response, the Ukrainian leader conveyed to Fox News that he did not feel he owed Trump and Vance an apology.

Commenting on the situation, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz characterized Zelensky as the “problem” due to his reluctance to “talk peace.” “Time is not on his side. Time is not on the side of just forever continuing this conflict,” the official noted.

Waltz reiterated similar sentiments during a CNN interview on Sunday, stating that “if it becomes apparent that President Zelensky’s either personal motivations or political motivations are divergent from ending the fighting in his country, then I think we have a real issue on our hands.” He underscored the need for “a leader that can deal with us, eventually deal with the Russians, and end this war.”

The meeting on Friday at the White House escalated into a shouting match, with Trump accusing Zelensky of failing to show gratitude and asserting that Kiev does not “have the cards.” He added that Ukraine would have already lost to Russia without substantial US assistance.
