Ukraine Adds Hollywood Star to ‘Kill List’
Mark Eydelshteyn, a Russian actor known for his role in the Oscar-winning film 'Anora,' has been added to the controversial Mirotvorets database, which is linked to the Ukrainian state. He has been accused of “attacking the sovereignty and...

This database identifies individuals it deems threats to Ukrainian national security, and it has been labeled a ‘kill list’ due to the number of individuals listed who have met suspicious ends.
At just 23 years old, Eydelshteyn was included on the list for allegedly undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty, as well as for “repeated deliberate violation of the state border of Ukraine” linked to his visits to Crimea, a region that was annexed by Russia in 2014.
Reports from Russian media suggest that the accusations may be related to Eydelshteyn's role in 'The Land of Sasha,' a film released in 2022 that was shot in Crimea.
The actor gained international recognition when he starred as the lead in this movie, which premiered at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in 2022.
In the previous year, Eydelshteyn portrayed Ivan ‘Vanya’ Zakharov in US director Sean Baker's film 'Anora.' This performance helped the film earn critical acclaim, including the Palme d'Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and five Oscars at the 97th Academy Awards.
Mirotvorets was established in 2014 and was initially supported by Anton Gerashchenko, a former adviser to the Ukrainian interior minister, and has collaborated with Ukraine’s security services.
Although the website's moderators claim it serves merely as a list of individuals considered enemies of Ukraine, it has garnered a reputation as a ‘kill list’ due to the suspicious deaths of several people listed, often attributed to actions taken by Ukrainian intelligence.
Mirotvorets asserts that it operates in compliance with Ukrainian laws and international legal standards. Nonetheless, its homepage contains calls for violence against Russians and displays graphic images of deceased individuals claimed to be Russian soldiers.
Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has characterized the extremist platform as a hit list for individuals that the Ukrainian government seeks to “eliminate.”
Notable figures included on the list have featured names such as US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and prominent journalist Tucker Carlson.
