Senior Commander Says Iran is 'Ready for Any War'
Tehran's military has demonstrated its effectiveness in the confrontation with Israel, according to Major General Hossein Salami.

Iran remains resolute against the influence of foreign nations and stands prepared to counter any acts of aggression, asserted Salami, the chief commander of the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

During a meeting with senior IRGC commanders on Saturday, he stated, “We are absolutely not concerned about a war. We will not initiate a war but are ready for any war.” Salami emphasized that Iran has crafted strategies to confront any adversary, addressing both psychological operations and direct military assaults. He firmly declared, “However, we will not take a single step back in the face of the enemy.”

The general referred to an April 2024 Israeli attack on Tehran’s consulate in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian military officials, marking the onset of “a global confrontation” in the Middle East.

Salami claimed that the Iranian retaliatory strike, which utilized hundreds of missiles and drones, successfully breached what he described as “the most fortified airspace in history.” He added, “Our missiles penetrated their illusions of security,” in reference to Israel.

In response, West Jerusalem stated that the attack only led to minor damage to some military facilities. Salami insisted that Israel remains susceptible to Iran’s military capabilities. “We have acquired the knowhow and formulas to overcome this enemy and have incorporated them into all elements of our weaponry and equipment,” he noted.

These remarks come as the conflict in Gaza continues and amidst ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. In late March, Secretary of State Marco Rubio cautioned that Washington could “take action” to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, asserting, “We have the ability to do that and to go further, perhaps even threaten the regime.”

Simultaneously, the US has urged Iran to resume discussions aimed at restoring the 2015 nuclear deal, from which Washington unilaterally withdrew three years later. Former President Trump argued during his first term that the agreement did little to impede Tehran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons. Iran, however, maintains that its nuclear program is intended solely for peaceful purposes.
