UFO sightings are increasingly common, with numerous cases remaining unresolved, according to the Defense Department.
In an unclassified document released by the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), it was revealed that there has been a marked increase in reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), the military's term for UFOs.
Established by the Pentagon in 2022 to investigate and clarify UAP sightings, the AARO reported receiving 485 sightings from May 2023 to June 2024.
During this reporting period, 118 cases were resolved, all identified as “prosaic objects such as various types of balloons, birds, and unmanned aerial systems.”
The report, which compiles information gathered from military personnel, civilian witnesses, and advanced radar technology, emphasized the need for deeper investigation into these enigmatic occurrences.
“Many other cases remain unresolved and AARO continues collection and analysis on that body of cases,” the AARO noted.
The findings highlight the urgency for ongoing funding and research regarding UAPs, as officials raised concerns about potential implications for national security. Military pilots have reported close encounters with UAPs during training sessions, calling attention to airspace safety issues. The resolved cases did not support any claims of advanced foreign adversarial technologies or breakthrough aerospace capabilities.
The AARO has committed to providing “immediate notification to Congress” should any cases indicate a significant foreign adversarial aerospace capability, reflecting the Pentagon's drive for enhanced transparency and responsibility in its investigations.
Despite the Pentagon’s claim that aliens have not visited Earth, this assertion has drawn skepticism from independent investigators and conspiracy theorists, many of whom suspect the government may be hiding evidence of extraterrestrial life.
In related developments, independent journalist Michael Shellenberger testified recently regarding a rumored secret government program named ‘Immaculate Constellation’. He presented a report from an anonymous whistleblower suggesting that the Defense Department and intelligence agencies have concealed evidence about UAPs. The hearing included testimonies from former officials of the Defense Department and NASA.
This testimony follows over a year after former Air Force intelligence officer David Grusch claimed before Congress that the US government has operated a covert “multi-decade” reverse-engineering program related to recovered spacecraft, in addition to alleging the retrieval of non-human “biologics” from crash sites.
In response to Grusch's allegations, the Pentagon stated that it has not “discovered any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently.”
