Netanyahu declares Israel has eliminated several 'replacements' of Hezbollah leaders
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stern warning to the people of Lebanon, urging them to remove Hezbollah from power to prevent experiencing a fate similar to that of Gaza.

Netanyahu asserted that Israeli strikes have not only targeted Hezbollah’s longstanding leader Hassan Nasrallah but have also eliminated at least two potential successors within the group's leadership. The Israeli leader cautioned Lebanon that it could face destruction and suffering akin to that currently being endured in Gaza, as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ramped up their cross-border ground offensive and conducted airstrikes in Beirut on Tuesday.

In a video message to the Lebanese populace shared on X, Netanyahu called on them to “free” their country from Hezbollah, holding the armed group responsible for the chaos and war that have plagued Lebanon due to their attacks on Israel, which he said result in “killing civilians without distinction.” He reiterated that “Israel has a right to defend itself” and claimed, “We’ve degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities. We’ve taken out thousands of terrorists, including Nasrallah himself and his replacement, as well as the replacement of his replacement,” without providing further details on the identities of the two other individuals.

Israel carried out an airstrike that reportedly assassinated Nasrallah in late September. Recently, the IDF claimed to have also killed Hashem Safieddine, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, although the armed group has not confirmed his death and dismissed claims that he had taken over from Nasrallah.

“Today, Hezbollah is weaker than it has been for many years,” Netanyahu stated, encouraging the Lebanese to rise against the group. “You stand at a crossroads. You have an opportunity to save Lebanon before it falls into the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza. It doesn’t have to be that way,” he added.

Hezbollah engaged Israel shortly after the commencement of the Israeli bombing and blockade of Gaza, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. The military operation from West Jerusalem followed a Hamas attack that resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,100 individuals and about 200 captives taken to Gaza. The IDF’s airstrikes and ground operations have wreaked havoc in the enclave, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting nearly 42,000 Palestinian casualties to date.

According to Lebanese authorities, more than 2,000 people have died from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since last October, with local news indicating that the IDF conducted an additional 26 airstrikes on Beirut throughout the day.
