Iran has no plans to send troops to Lebanon, says foreign ministry
Tehran has declared it does not fear war and is committed to ensuring a safe and stable Middle East, according to spokesperson Nasser Kanaani.

On Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Iran will not deploy troops to Lebanon or Gaza to engage Israel. This announcement follows Israel's increased military actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen.

The ministry emphasized that Iran does not desire war but also is not intimidated by the prospect. “There is no need to send extra or volunteer forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Kanaani stated during a weekly press conference. He further noted that Lebanon and fighters in the Palestinian territories have the capability to defend themselves against aggression.

In recent weeks, Israel has conducted intensive airstrikes targeting Hezbollah and other militant factions across the region, including Syria, Yemen, and Iraq. These actions have raised concerns about a potential escalation of the conflict that could involve Iran and the United States, Israel's primary ally.

Kanaani mentioned, “We have not received any request in this regard from any side; on the contrary, we are informed and are sure that they do not need the help of our forces.”

Despite this, he assured that Israel "will not remain without reprimand and punishment for the crimes it has committed against the Iranian people, military personnel and the resistance forces."

In just the past week, the Israel Defense Forces have significantly increased airstrikes on Lebanon, resulting in over 1,000 deaths and more than 6,000 injuries, according to local health officials. The escalation has led to a major exodus from the hardest-hit areas.

The Israeli military has also targeted senior Hezbollah leaders, significantly impacting the group's command structure, including the killing of many top officials.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Hezbollah's office in Tehran on Monday to honor the group's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, as reported on the government’s website.
