Dozens of Buildings Demolished by Israel in West Bank
The operation has led to significant forced displacement, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

On Sunday, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) demolished numerous buildings in the northern West Bank city of Jenin. Social media footage depicted the structures being destroyed through a series of intense explosions.

This action is part of a “counterterrorist operation” that West Jerusalem initiated nearly two weeks ago. The Jerusalem Post noted that Defense Minister Israel Katz issued orders for the demolition of any buildings associated with “terrorist activity.”

WAFA, associated with the Palestinian Authority, stated that the majority of the demolished buildings were multistory residential units, resulting in the displacement of “a large number of families.” Additionally, a local hospital was damaged during the blasts, according to its director, Wisam Baker, who reported that no casualties had been recorded following the demolitions.

Social media videos depicted several explosions occurring in what seems to be a single neighborhood in Jenin, with smoke and dust clouding the sky amid the powerful detonations.

The IDF confirmed that a total of 23 structures were destroyed, as mentioned by the Jerusalem Post.

Furthermore, the Israeli military disclosed that ground operations were conducted, including in the town of Tammun in the West Bank, where they claimed to have killed at least 50 “terrorists” and apprehended over 100 “suspects.”

WAFA reported that, since the operation in Jenin commenced, 25 Palestinians have been killed, with dozens more injured. Approximately 15,000 individuals have been forcibly displaced from the Jenin refugee camp and its surrounding regions. The IDF is also said to have destroyed local water supply lines, though West Jerusalem has not addressed these allegations.

Dubbed the ‘Iron Wall,’ the new Israeli campaign in the West Bank was initiated shortly after a ceasefire was achieved with Hamas in Gaza, following a conflict that persisted for over a year. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked at that time that the objective was to “eradicate terrorism” in the region as part of a systematic and determined effort to target the “Iranian axis wherever it sends its arms.”
