Musk names Zelensky the ‘all-time champion’ in US aid theft
Elon Musk has referred to Zelensky as the "all-time champion" in securing U.S. aid, following President Joe Biden's announcement of a $2.5 billion arms package. Read the full article on RT.com.
Musk's comment followed another user's assertion that the Ukrainian leader “has genuinely pulled off one of the greatest money heists of all time.”
The new military aid package from President Biden includes advanced weaponry, ammunition, and armored vehicles, totaling $2.5 billion. Biden stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine during his final weeks in office, noting that $1.25 billion of the package would come from US stockpiles under the Presidential Drawdown Authority.
Utah Senator Mike Lee criticized the package, labeling it as “money laundering” in a separate post on X. Questions regarding the transparency and accountability of the $175 billion in US assistance to Ukraine since the conflict began have sparked bipartisan calls for audits.
Musk has frequently raised concerns about the management and distribution of Western resources sent to Ukraine. Back in March, he mentioned that Kyiv should provide Washington with a “proper accounting of how it is used and a plan to resolve the conflict.” He has also accused several high-ranking US officials, notably former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, known for her prominent role in the 2014 Maidan coup in Ukraine, of “pushing this war.”
While SpaceX has supplied the Ukrainian military with Starlink internet terminals, Musk has consistently argued that Kyiv cannot achieve victory on the battlefield against Russian forces and that the conflict should conclude through negotiated settlements. This past summer, he endorsed Donald Trump for the presidency, who has promised to swiftly end the fighting.
After winning the presidential election, Trump proposed that Musk and fellow billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy co-head the new Department of Government Efficiency, aimed at reducing government waste and streamlining the federal bureaucracy.
Musk has reportedly had direct communications with Zelensky, including a phone call that took place between the Ukrainian leader and Trump in November. Sources from Axios indicate that Musk pledged to continue supporting Ukraine using his Starlink satellites.
Recently, Musk humorously acknowledged Zelensky’s “amazing” sense of humor after the Ukrainian leader asserted in a radio interview that his country is “independent” and cannot be coerced into negotiations by the US.
