Musk is Ubiquitous, but a Recent Poll Indicates American Disapproval.
Elon Musk has been making headlines during the early months of President Donald Trump’s second term, but his visibility does not seem to be resonating well with voters.

From appearing in the Oval Office wearing a tech support T-shirt alongside his son to giving frequent interviews on Fox News and donning a cheesehead hat while campaigning in Wisconsin, Musk has showcased his support for the administration across the nation.

However, as the tech billionaire oversees the Department of Government Efficiency, he has become a polarizing figure in national politics, drawing sharp criticism from Democrats regarding his initiatives and the potential reductions at DOGE. Recent polling indicates that voters are not in favor of Musk's actions.

A national poll conducted by Marquette University Law School and released on Wednesday reveals that a majority of respondents disapprove of Musk and his work at DOGE, where he aims to significantly redesign the federal government.

Specifically, approval ratings for Musk's handling of his responsibilities at DOGE stand at 41 percent, while disapproval sits at 58 percent. Additionally, 60 percent of those surveyed view Musk unfavorably, in contrast to 38 percent who hold a favorable opinion.

Musk’s declining approval ratings could pose challenges for the Trump special adviser, particularly following his recent personal setback in Wisconsin’s state Supreme Court election.

He invested millions to back the Republican candidate, Brad Schimel, who faced a substantial defeat. Notably, the Marquette poll was carried out before Schimel's loss.

In comparison, Trump enjoys slightly better ratings than Musk among voters. The survey indicates that 46 percent approve of his performance nationally, while 54 percent disapprove. These numbers reflect a slight difference from a January Marquette survey, which found Trump with 48 percent approval and 52 percent disapproval.

Both Trump and Musk have suggested that Musk’s tenure at DOGE may soon come to an end. On Wednesday, PMG reported that Trump has been informing his inner circle, including Cabinet members, that Musk will likely step down from his position.

The poll, which surveyed 1,021 adults nationwide from March 17-27, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
