Kanye West Declines Multimillion-Dollar Proposal in Moscow, Reports Say
American rapper Ye reportedly initially accepted the payout but subsequently altered his decision, requesting a higher amount, according to Mash. Read Full Article at RT.com.
The Mash Telegram channel reports that the rapper had received several proposals from various Russian event organizers. SAV Entertainment, which has organized concerts for artists such as Metallica and Linkin Park in Russia, extended a $5 million offer to Ye. Additionally, PMI, a St. Petersburg-based media holding known for backing concerts by the Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, and Madonna, proposed around $4 million.
The report indicates that the highest offer came from “one of Russia’s largest industrial companies,” which was willing to pay Ye $8 million for a single performance. Mash states that while Ye initially agreed to this deal, he eventually reneged, requesting a larger sum.
All of the mentioned organizers are still in negotiations with Ye but are growing wary that his escalating fee might complicate their ability to recover the concert costs.
Speculations around a potential Ye concert in Moscow have circulated for several months. Previous reports even claimed that the rapper had visited the city to scout various venues for his performance.
However, in July, Eduard Ratnikov, the founder of TCI concert agency, suggested that Ye might refrain from performing in Russia due to concerns that it could impact his career amid Western sanctions against the country.
Ratnikov remarked that Ye could visit Russia personally “either for money or leisure,” but indicated that an actual concert was unlikely for now.
Just days before Ratnikov's statements, media outlets reported seeing Ye in Moscow, sharing videos of someone resembling the rapper dressed in a white jumpsuit entering a hotel in the Russian capital.
Ye appeared to acknowledge the trip, though he did not disclose any specifics about his visit. Russian media speculated that he was in the country to celebrate the birthday of Gosha Rubchinsky, a Russian designer who serves as the creative director for the Yeezy brand.
