Iran fires missiles toward Israel, says IDF
The Israeli military has instructed civilians to seek shelter as tensions escalate following the launch of ballistic missiles from Iran towards Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued this directive on Tuesday evening, advising individuals to go to shelters upon hearing alert sirens.

“A short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran towards the State of Israel,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari stated in a video message. “Upon hearing a siren, you must enter a shelter and remain there until further notice.”

This warning was also disseminated through the IDF's Telegram channel, on X, and via Israeli media outlets.

In addition, the military emphasized that it “is doing and will do everything necessary to protect the civilians” in Israel.

Earlier in the day, anonymous US officials informed American media that Washington had alerted Israel about a potential missile launch from Tehran. The US was anticipating an attack reminiscent of a recent incident in April that involved approximately 300 missiles and drones.

The US embassy in West Jerusalem instructed all its personnel and their families to “shelter in place” due to the threat of possible rocket and drone strikes, without specifically mentioning Iran.

This reported missile launch follows an incursion by Israeli ground troops into southern Lebanon earlier on Tuesday, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as a mission aimed at Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Shia militia.
