China resolute in meeting yearly growth objectives
In the latter half of the year, China is committed to meeting its yearly objectives for economic and social development, as stated in a State Council report presented to the nation's highest legislative body on Tuesday.

During a meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress, Xiangli Bin, who is the deputy leader of the National Development and Reform Commission, delivered the State Council's report on this year’s progress in national economic and social development.

So far, the execution of the plan has been positive, with key measures like economic growth, employment, and the international balance of payments aligning with projections, Xiangli Bin informed the ongoing legislative session.

However, the report highlighted potential challenges including detrimental effects from shifts in the global environment, a lack of sufficient domestic demand, and risks facing major sectors.

Looking ahead, it noted that there will be an emphasis on fast-tracking significant reforms including developing a consistent national market, refining the market economy's framework, and enhancing changes in fiscal, tax, and financial areas.

According to Xiangli Bin, lawmakers will be informed about the necessity to appropriately bolster macro policies, refine their focus, and increase their counter-cyclical nature. Coordinating efforts to maintain economic stability while managing risks was also emphasized.

For the remainder of the year, strategies will concentrate on boosting internal demand by encouraging consumer spending, sustaining stability in foreign trade and investments, promoting comprehensive rural revitalization along with new urbanization initiatives, supporting eco-friendly and low-carbon growth, and enhancing public welfare, the report outlined.
