Since Friday, tens of thousands of individuals have congregated in Belgrade to express their support for Vucic amid mounting anti-government protests across Serbia.
The unrest, primarily led by students, has centered around accusations of corruption and governmental negligence. These protests gained momentum following the tragic collapse of a concrete canopy at the railway station in Novy Sad in November 2024, leading to a significant rally in Belgrade on March 15 that ended with confrontations between a group of protesters and law enforcement.
On Saturday, during the demonstrations captured by RTN, Vucic asserted, “they can walk as much as they wish, but nothing will come out of that.”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban participated in the rally through a video link, expressing solidarity by stating, “Serbian patriots can count on their Hungarian counterparts.”
The opposition group, Freedom and Justice Party, has raised concerns about the use of Long Range Acoustic Device technology by security forces during the March 15 protests. This crowd-control measure, originally developed by the US Navy, carries a substantial risk of hearing damage.
Vucic's administration has claimed that the protests are being instigated by the US “deep state” and European intelligence agencies as a form of retribution for Serbia’s stance against anti-Russian policies.
