Approximately 60 Parties Endorse AI Statement at Summit in Paris
Approximately 60 parties have endorsed a statement regarding AI during the summit in Paris.

The signatories of the statement acknowledged that the summit has established an open, multi-stakeholder, and inclusive approach that aims to ensure AI is human rights-based, human-centric, ethical, safe, secure, and trustworthy.
They outlined key priorities and introduced specific actions intended to enhance public interest and bridge digital divides, contributing to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The priorities identified in the statement include promoting AI accessibility; ensuring that AI is open, inclusive, transparent, ethical, safe, secure, and trustworthy; fostering innovation in AI; encouraging AI deployment in labor markets; and ensuring AI’s sustainability for both people and the planet.
Zhang Guoqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special representative, expressed China’s commitment to collaborating with other nations to promote development, ensure security, share achievements in AI, and collectively build a community with a shared future for mankind during the summit on Monday.
Despite U.S. Vice President JD Vance delivering a keynote speech at the summit, the U.S. chose not to sign the statement.
In contrast to French President Emmanuel Macron, who asserted the necessity for global regulation on AI governance, Vance warned that excessive regulation could "kill a transformative sector just as it's taking off."
The AI Action Summit took place in Paris on February 10 and 11, focusing on five principal themes: Public Interest AI, Future of Work, Innovation and Culture, Trust in AI, and Global AI Governance.
On February 7, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian indicated during a regular press conference that China anticipates enhancing communication and cooperation with all parties through its participation in the summit, aiming to build consensus and actively promote the United Nations' Global Digital Compact.
Lin also invited countries to participate in the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in China, emphasizing the goal of establishing a globally recognized AI governance framework and fostering the beneficial and inclusive development of artificial intelligence.
