$1 trillion US 'waste list' includes ice-skating drag queens and Ukrainian influencers

He claims that over $1 trillion of US taxpayer money has been wasted on unnecessary, absurd, and even offensive projects. The libertarian senator has called on the future administration of President-elect Donald Trump to address this issue.
Paul released his tenth annual ‘Festivus Report’ on Monday, highlighting what he views as unnecessary government expenditures. He advocates for a smaller government, believing that allocating more funds to bureaucrats leads to increased inefficiency.
”This year, I am highlighting a whopping $1,008,313,329,626.12. That’s over $1 trillion in government waste, including things like ice-skating drag queens, a $12 Million Las Vegas pickleball complex, $4,840,082 on Ukrainian influencers, and more!” Paul noted in the 40-page document.
Additionally, the report mentions that the National Endowment for the Arts granted the Bearded Ladies Cabaret $10,000 for their Beards on Ice performance, which includes “polar bears, drag queens, and a character dubbed ‘Nonbinary Parental Guardian Nature’.”
The State Department also reportedly spent $4.8 million on “KYIV, Ukraine public affairs – Influencer Staff,” in addition to “nearly $174 billion in aid and military assistance” from American taxpayers for Ukraine’s ongoing fight against Russia. Paul remarked, “Apparently, what we really need in a war zone are more Instagram stories and TikTok dances.”
He expressed particular outrage over the $1,513,299 spent by the National Institutes of Health since 2019 on a study involving motion sickness that required researchers to remove parts of kittens’ brains and strap them to hydraulic tables for 360-degree rocking. Paul has called this experiment an unjustifiable form of animal cruelty.
Addressing government waste was a significant promise made by Trump during his campaign. Billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been appointed to co-chair a newly formed Department of Government Efficiency in the upcoming administration. Paul is hopeful that the new team will help rectify the issue, but he insists that US lawmakers must ultimately take action.
”Why is there more waste? Because idiots in the Congress keep giving them more money,” he told Fox News while discussing his report.
Musk, an active user of social media, has shared several posts about Paul’s new report on his X account. Recently, the DOGE account on the same platform posted a brief list of questionable government projects, including funding for toilets to scan people's “anal prints” and a grant to Harvard University to investigate the impact of leaf blowers on lizards in trees.
