Chinese President Xi Jinping conducted an inspection of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone located in Hengqin, an island in Guangdong Province, on Thursday morning.

During his visit, President Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, engaged in warm conversations with residents of the Macao Special Administrative Region who have settled and established businesses in the cooperation zone, as well as with individuals involved in its planning, construction, management, and services.

Xi arrived in Macao on Wednesday to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to China, witness the inauguration of its sixth-term government, and conduct the inspection tour.

While inspecting, Xi explored an exhibition hall featuring photographs, charts, and physical models that highlighted the integrated development of Hengqin and Macao, alongside the achievements of Guangdong-Macao cooperation in recent years.

He noted that since the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, significant advancements have occurred in various areas, and the integration between Hengqin and Macao has progressively improved.

Xi stated that the backing for Macao's appropriately diversified economic development has become increasingly apparent, and emphasized that the central government's decision to develop Hengqin and create the cooperation zone has proven to be a sound choice.

He also received a briefing on the joint effort between Guangdong and Macao in constructing a support platform for traditional Chinese medicine technology. Xi commended their strategy of fusing advanced technologies from various disciplines to elevate TCM to a global audience.

During his visit to the Macao New Neighborhood, the first comprehensive livelihood project for Macao residents in Hengqin, he listened to a young entrepreneur from Macao share their experiences of launching businesses in the area.

Xi noted that the stories of innovation and entrepreneurship reflect that Macao is home to a group of young individuals who possess ideals, a sense of responsibility, and a willingness to explore and innovate. He expressed his hope for more young people from Macao to lead remarkable lives in Hengqin.

He underscored the significance of remembering the original intention behind the development of Hengqin, aimed at fostering the appropriate diversification of Macao's economy.
