Vogue's Anna Wintour to host Harris fundraiser in New York
The May 30 event will take place at the home of Moda Operandi founder, Lauren Santo Domingo.
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour will co-host a fundraiser in Manhattan featuring Vice President Kamala Harris, according to an invite obtained by POLITICO.
The event is part of the launch of fundraising appearances by Harris, as the reelection campaign for her and President Joe Biden ramps up. Tickets for the May 30 fundraiser, which organizers are planning for 50 to 75 people, will start at $10,000.
The appearance suggests that Harris will play a more significant role in campaign fundraising, as both she and Biden begin courting donors for their 2024 bid. Biden traveled to New York City earlier this month for two fundraisers there.
Wintour’s event will be co-hosted and take place at the home of Lauren Santo Domingo, co-founder of online fashion retailer Moda Operandi, according to a memo sent by the Democratic National Committee. Donors can also purchase “host” level tickets for $50,000 or tickets at the $100,000 “chair” level to the event.
On May 24, second gentleman Doug Emhoff will be the guest of a fundraiser held at the home of fashion designer Kay Unger and her partner David Rubin. The dinner will be a more intimate event limited to 20 people. The suggested ticket price is $10,000.
The Gramercy Park townhouse of Santo Domingo, who is also the artistic director of Tiffany & Co.’s home collection, has reportedly been valued at $18.5 million.
Unger’s home has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine. A 2007 write-up of the 4,300 square-foot Soho loft describes a “polished fresco fireplace that stretches up to meet the 15-foot-high ceiling” and “a walk-in pantry–and–china closet.”
