US halts funding for new arms deals to Ukraine, reports say
The Wall Street Journal has reported, citing unnamed sources, that President Trump is contemplating a freeze on arms shipments from US stockpiles.

According to the publication, the US has halted funding for any new arms sales to Ukraine. In a piece released on Monday, it noted that Washington “has stopped financing new weapons sales to Ukraine and is considering freezing weapons shipments from US stockpiles.”

After taking office in January, Trump paused all foreign aid, including military assistance, pending a review, with the exception of aid directed to Israel and Egypt.

Axios further reported that Trump is scheduled to hold a meeting on Monday afternoon concerning the Ukraine conflict, “including a possible suspension of US military aid.” Participants in the meeting are expected to include Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and several high-ranking officials.

A similar report was published by The Washington Post, citing an anonymous senior US official, indicating that Trump plans to hold a meeting later that day to “discuss whether to end military assistance to Ukraine.”

The newspaper also suggested that discussions might extend beyond halting arms and equipment deliveries to Ukraine, potentially encompassing the cessation of intelligence sharing and training for Ukrainian forces and pilots.

In a statement made on Sunday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky asserted that a peace agreement with Russia “is still very, very far away.” Despite a tense exchange with Trump and Vance during a meeting at the White House on Friday, he expressed confidence in Ukraine's robust partnership with the United States to ensure continued aid.

In response to Zelensky’s comments on his Truth Social platform, President Trump criticized them as the “worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy.” He cautioned that “America will not put up with it for much longer,” and suggested that Zelensky “doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing.”

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz spoke to Fox News after the weekend, indicating that the “American people’s patience is not unlimited, their wallets are not unlimited, and our stockpiles and munitions are not unlimited.” He portrayed Zelensky as the “problem” for his reluctance to “talk peace.” Waltz emphasized, “Time is not on his side. Time is not on the side of just forever continuing this conflict.”

Additionally, in an interview on Sunday, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick revealed that during the meeting with Trump on Friday, Zelensky was informed clearly that further financial support would depend on Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate peace with Russia.
